I've never heard C.S. Lewis's classic tale presented in that manner... How Wonderfully Delightful! You've resurrected it as a tale of wondrous and magical hopefulness for adults... or perhaps only for grownups that still have hopeful anticipation in their eyes for a better tomorrow... regardless... It made me feel good just reading it... Well Done, Sir! Kudos and Golf Claps for that one!
Perfect! As you suggest, ‘classic’ children’s stories point to and dig into the mysteries of life, including the terrors … and thereby impart deep understanding in the earliest years of a child growth… a foundation for encountering the terrors and difficulties of adult lives with faith and confidence in life. 🙏
I happen to be reading the Chronicles of Narnia starting with The Magician's Nephew, as C.S. Lewis wanted readers to do, which I have just finished. I bought a lovely hardcover version of the set with color pictures of the original illustrator. The Penguin editions we had as kids had nasty browned, non-acid-free pages, though the covers were nice.
Nice! I put together a good hardback set of the LOTR over the summer- figured it would be easy to find good inexpensive used copies. Nothing on the shelf at the local shop- guy there says no one buys Tolkien any more. One of the saddest moments of the year.
Such a shame to hear that the classic works of J.R.R. Tolkien have fallen out of favor with today's readers... Have you read any of his short stories... E.g., "Farmer Giles of Ham" or "Smith of Wooten Major"...? Highly recommend!!~
Ummmm... I wonder what type of Santa we have today, given that Christmas 2021 (in Ireland), saw him requiring a vaccination certificate in order to visit him!!! That said, I did love your positive article, unusual these days of many only concentrating on the doom...
Now you are giving us a real Christmas Gift, Peace be with you.
And with you also.

It’s been a long time- thanks for the recommendation!

Thank you. I’m sure the real Santa would not comply with totalitarian measures- that was probably some government Spook Santa there in Ireland.
